Fearless Females - Recipies

March 7 — Share a favorite recipe from your mother or grandmother’s kitchen. Why is this dish your favorite? If you don’t have one that’s been passed down, describe a favorite holiday or other meal you shared with your family.

My family hasn't been one to hand down recipies.  Most of the cooking has been seat-of-the-pants meals done with what we had on-hand and what people liked.  My father is a midwestern meat and potatoes guy, while my mother is a southern gal with all of the Louisiana food traditions.  We ate a mix of those, tending toward the less spicy (most would say bland) because my brothers and I were very picky eaters.  See the article I wrote about Supertasters for more details.  Thanksgiving was traditionally the turkey dinner with all of the trimmings.  Christmas would often feature roast beef or ham, and Easter would often be ham as well.
